Complete or partial removable dentures require adhesives or pastes to remain in place, but implant-supported dentures are anchored with titanium posts in your jaw in order to fit securely and stable. This ensures that the implant dentures will not slip or move out of place, even when eating or speaking. With more security and support, patients with implant-supported dentures can feel confident that their dentures will remain in place. Implant-supported dentures look great and can be treated just like natural teeth. At Stone Lake Dental, Wichita Falls, TX patients can receive custom implant dentures that look natural and feel comfortable. "My family and I have been with this office for more than 20 years and we won't go anywhere else. I also had bad experiences with other dentists in the past that it has caused anxiety every time I go see one for checkups or issues, but Dr. perez always does an amazing job in fixing any issue. I had a horrible tooth infection and the pain was excruciating. I was amazed to found out I had absolutely zero pain even after the numbing gel wore off and the pain just all vanished!"- S.K. / Google / Apr 16, 2020

You may be a candidate for implant-supported dentures if you are currently wearing removable dentures or if you are missing most of your teeth and need dentures. Unlike removable dentures, implant-supported dentures do not need adhesives or soaking. Implant dentures have fewer food restrictions than removable dentures and they can be cleaned like natural teeth. The implant replaces the natural tooth root so your gums and jawbone are less likely to atrophy. During your consultation, we will assess the current condition of your mouth to determine if your gums and jaw are strong enough to hold the implants. If needed, gum and/or bone grafting can be performed to fortify your mouth before the implants are placed.
What to Expect
Prior to any treatment, a thorough exam will be conducted, including digital x-rays, to evaluate the condition of your gums and jawbone. If the jawbone or gums are too weak to hold the implants, then a bone and/or gum graft can be performed. Once the area has healed and is sufficiently dense, the implants can be placed.
You will be given a local anesthesia to numb your mouth before the surgery. Other sedation options may be considered if the procedure is extensive or if it helps you feel more comfortable. Incisions will be made in your gums and implant posts will be placed in the jawbone. For dentures, four or more implants are usually used per arch. The incisions will be closed with part of the post showing above the gumline. A temporary denture will be used to cover the posts as they heal over the next 4 – 6 months. The implants will integrate with your gums and jawbone. Once it is decided that the implants are strong enough, your custom dentures will be attached to the posts and adjusted for a secure fit.
Implant-supported dentures can be cleaned like natural teeth with regular brushing, flossing, and mouthwash. You should continue to attend regular dental cleanings, exams, and follow-up appointments at Stone Lake Dental to have the fit and wear of your dentures checked. With the proper care, implant-supported dentures can last many years. Our dental team will help you decide if your implanted dentures need to be repaired or replaced.
Depending on your insurance provider, the cost of implanted dentures will most likely be covered in part. Prior to the procedure, we will contact your provider to calculate your personal cost. Stone Lake Dental accepts many payment methods and we can help you find medical financing to make your treatment more affordable.
Implant-supported dentures restore your smile so you can eat and talk just like you did with your natural teeth. If you want to enjoy confidence in the stability in your dental restoration, contact Stone Lake Dental to schedule your consultation.
