Overview
Good dental health is important for every member of the family, no matter their age. At Stone Lake Dental, we encourage parents to schedule their child's first visit to the dentist before they turn one. From there, parents should make sure their children visit the dentist at least twice a year for cleanings and exams. Our intention is to give your child a fun and stress-free trip to our Wichita Falls, TX office so they have a positive association with going to the dentist that will last the rest of their life. During their dental visit, our experienced dentists will assess the development of their teeth, look for problems or areas of concern, and educate them on how to maintain a proper oral care routine at home. Best Candidates
Infants can experience cavities and tooth decay as early as two years old. Stone Lake Dental can provide preventive options and treatments to help preserve the teeth before decay occurs. Your child may have their baby teeth for several years so it is still important to keep their teeth in good health until your child develops permanent teeth. This means scheduling appointments twice a year for exams and cleanings. During their appointments, our dental team can identify any developing issues, like cavities or dental malocclusion, and recommend procedures, like tooth-colored fillings, fluoride treatments, or orthodontics.
What to Expect
Several problems can be addressed at your child's dental visit. Typically, their visit will consist of a dental examination and a cleaning. After a cleaning, a fluoride treatment may also be administered in order to strengthen the teeth and enamel while they are developing. Additionally, dental sealants are often recommended to minimize tooth decay and cavities. We can also address teeth that are already showing signs of decay or are chipped, damaged, or broken by creating an effective treatment plan. As your child gets older, an orthodontic treatment to straighten their teeth may be recommended, which may prevent future dental problems.
Follow-Up
If a problem is detected during your child's dental examination or cleaning, you may need to schedule a follow-up appointment for treatment. After the cleaning and exam, our dental team will talk to you and your child about the most important steps in an oral hygiene routine: daily brushing and flossing. We will also demonstrate techniques on the proper way to brush and floss to prevent dental problems.
Insurance Coverage
In most cases, both dental examinations and cleanings are covered by your dental insurance provider. If a treatment or procedure is necessary, our financial team will contact your provider to determine any additional costs. Stone Lake Dental accepts many payment methods, including low-interest medical financing, that can help make your child's dental care easier to afford.
